In a remarkable display of commitment to their community, MD Fitout’s dynamic directors Dave and Matt embarked on two incredible charity endeavors on a bright Saturday morning, September 2nd, 2023. While one director was gearing up for a charity football match, the other was preparing to swim across the Mersey River, both with the shared goal of making a difference.

The Charity Football Match: Plus 30 vs MNF for RNLI

In an exciting display of community spirit and sportsmanship, MD Fitout‘s very own Director, Dave Barnes, recently laced up their boots for a charity football match. The event, aptly named “Plus 30 vs MNF,” took place on a sunny Saturday afternoon, September 2nd, 2023, and brought together colleagues, friends, and supporters for a thrilling game of football – all in the name of a great cause.

The charity match, which pitted the Plus 30 team against the MNF team, wasn’t just about the love of the game; it was a heartfelt effort to raise funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The RNLI is a renowned charity that provides invaluable assistance to those in peril on the sea. Their lifeboat crews and lifeguards are always at the ready to save lives at sea, and they do so without hesitation.

Dave shared, “The RNLI’s dedication to saving lives at sea is truly admirable, and we wanted to do our part to support their incredible efforts. Football is a great way to bring people together, and we thought, ‘Why not turn our passion for the sport into an opportunity to make a difference?'”

In the end, it wasn’t just about the final score on the scoreboard; it was about the collective effort to make a difference and support the RNLI’s mission to save lives at sea. It’s safe to say that this charity football match was a resounding success, both on and off the field.

The Mersey Swim: A Crossing for Rek41

At the same time, MD Fitout‘s other Director, Matt Tomlinson, was preparing for an extraordinary journey – a swim across the iconic Mersey River. This open-water swim was no ordinary feat; it had a profound purpose – raising funds for Rek41, a non-alcoholic community center held dear by many.

As Matt braved the Mersey’s open waters, their swim became a testament to resilience and community. It wasn’t just about crossing a river; it was about forging connections, bridging gaps, and creating a brighter future for all. The community rallied in full force, lining the riverbanks to cheer on Matt as he swam with determination and purpose. The Mersey Swim became a symbol of hope and unity, with each stroke bringing the community closer to a shared goal.

The impact of this daring swim extended far beyond the river’s currents. It was a reminder that even seemingly insurmountable challenges can be conquered when driven by a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Rek41 stands as a beacon of hope and support within the community, providing a safe haven for those seeking alternatives to alcohol-centric gatherings. The funds raised from this audacious swim would play a pivotal role in Rek41’s mission, specifically for the creation of a much-needed kitchen at the center. This kitchen carried immense significance, embodying nourishment, warmth, and community unity. It would enable Rek41 to offer hot meals to those in need, especially during challenging times.

Matt explained, “Rek41 is an essential part of our community, offering an invaluable alternative to alcohol-focused gatherings. We wholeheartedly support their mission and wanted to contribute meaningfully. The kitchen we aim to build represents more than sustenance; it symbolizes warmth and hope for those who rely on it.”

As the sun set on this extraordinary day, the two charity endeavors had collectively made a substantial impact. The RNLI received vital support to continue its life-saving mission, and Rek41 was one step closer to realizing its vision of a community kitchen.

MD Fitout, under the guidance of its dedicated directors, is committed to making waves of positive change within and beyond their community. These two charity events were just the beginning of a journey that will see even more impactful initiatives in the future.

Whether it’s on the football field or in the open waters of the Mersey, MD Fitout‘s directors have demonstrated that with determination, passion, and a commitment to community, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
